When Donald Pleasants founded our company in 1996, it began as Superior Specialty Vehicles at a facility located in West Jefferson, North Carolina. This facility located in the mountains of North Carolina specialized in providing Ford QVM certified remounts for ambulances and rescue vehicles as well as emergency vehicle service.
Prior to this he founded Southeastern Emergency Equipment in 1979; a distributor of medical equipment and training to EMS personnel worldwide. It was not long after the start of Superior Specialty Vehicles that his vision quickly changed and he wanted to provide a simpler method of purchasing for his customers. He then changed the name of Superior Specialty Vehicles to Southeastern Specialty Vehicles creating a sister company to his medical supply company and allow customers the ease of purchasing their medical equipment and providing their organizations with the emergency vehicles they needed to take care of their communities.
Southeastern Specialty Vehicles is a minority owned company with Nikki Pleasants-Mullen serving as President since April of 2017. She began her involvement in the company; beginning with Southeastern Emergency Equipment as a child; learning every aspect of the business. Together with founder and CEO, Donald Pleasants; Southeastern Specialty Vehicles still maintains its goal to always keep the customer first.
In 2011, we opened a second facility that is 100,000 square foot in Henderson, North Caroling allowing us to expand our operation. In the fall of 2018; we streamlined our operation by making our Henderson facility in central North Carolina our corporate office and manufacturing facility. Since then we have launched our own line of custom manufactured Eagle Series Rescue Vehicles and Synergy Remounts. Recently, we have partnered with Sirchie Law Enforcement Vehicle Division. In addition to our core product offering, Southeastern Specialty Vehicles also produces MCI Trailers, Emergency Response ATV’s, Special Response Vehicles, and Ambulance Training Simulators.
Southeastern Specialty Vehicles is a franchised dealer for Osage Ambulances, Malley Industries, Life Line Emergency Vehicles, and Marion Body Works – Fire and Emergency.
